Hardwood Floor Repair in Oxford, MS
Board replacement, water-damage repair, and seamless blending for hardwood floors that have a problem in one spot — not the whole floor. We splice in a matched species, blend the finish, and the repair disappears.

Localized Repair, Not Full Replacement
Most hardwood floor problems show up in one room, near a leak, under a sliding door, or where a heavy piece of furniture was dragged. The rest of the floor is fine. Replacing the whole floor when only a small section is damaged is rarely the right answer — and it almost never matches the old portion of the room.
When Repair Is the Right Answer
Pet damage along a doorway, water staining under a window, board cupping after an appliance leak, deep gouges from furniture moves, sun-bleached strips along a south-facing window. If the damage is contained and the subfloor is sound, we can pull and replace the affected boards without touching the rest of the floor.
When Full Refinishing Wins
If the finish is uniformly worn across the whole floor, board-level repair will read as a fresh patch on a faded background. In that case we recommend full refinishing — usually paired with the repair so the entire floor cures together with one consistent finish.
- Board replacement and splicing — pulled cleanly to the joint, new board cut to fit, fastened to match existing nail or glue-down pattern.
- Stain and finish matching — tested against the existing floor before any board is set, blended sheen on top so the repair disappears under raking light.
- Water and pet damage — subfloor moisture verification first, then drying, replacement, or remediation as the conditions require.
- Solid and engineered hardwood — both species are repairable; the technique differs but the standard does not.
The hardest part of hardwood repair is not the carpentry — it is the visual match. Wood ages. Sun shifts the tone. Wax and grime build up in different rates by traffic pattern. A new board fitted next to a 12-year-old board will look obviously new unless the finishing process accounts for all of that. We test stain blends in a hidden area, lay sample boards, and only commit to the final finish when the patch reads continuous with the floor around it.
For Oxford and Lafayette County homes, the most common repairs are around exterior doors (water entry), under refrigerators and washing machines (slow leaks), and along south-facing windows (UV bleaching). Each pattern has a slightly different fix. Photos sent ahead of the estimate help us scope the job accurately before we visit.

Hardwood Repair — Common Questions
Honest answers about scope, cost, and matching.
1Can a damaged section be repaired without replacing the whole floor?
Yes. We pull only the affected boards, splice in a matched species and width, then blend the finish into the existing floor. The repair disappears once it cures.
2How do you match the color of an old hardwood floor?
We test stain blends against the existing surface in a hidden area before any new board goes down — adjusting tone and sheen until the patch reads continuous with the floor around it.
3What about water-damaged hardwood?
We assess subfloor moisture first. If the subfloor is dry and the damage is contained to top-side cupping or staining, we can plane and refinish. If the subfloor is wet, the planks come out, the substrate dries or gets replaced, and new boards go in.
4Do I need to refinish the whole floor after a repair?
Sometimes — if the existing finish is heavily aged or worn unevenly, full refinishing produces a more consistent result. Most repairs we complete are localized only.
5How long does a hardwood repair take?
Localized repairs (a few boards) typically take 1-3 days including stain match, board fitment, and finish cure. Larger sections take longer depending on how much new board is needed.
6Can you repair engineered hardwood?
Yes — engineered planks repair differently than solid hardwood (glue-down vs nail-down), but board-level replacement is still the right path for damaged sections. We work with both.
