Concrete Work for Full-Scope Renovations in Oxford, MS
When a renovation reaches the concrete — driveway replacement, patio slabs, footings, walkways — TAV leads the full project. Some concrete scope we self-perform; some we coordinate through trusted licensed crews. Either way, one contractor owns the result.
Concrete as Part of the Whole Project
TAV Construction is an interior finishing specialist by trade — and lately we've been actively expanding into masonry and concrete as well. When concrete scope shows up on a project, we either self-perform it or bring in a licensed crew we've worked with. Either path, you get one project, one schedule, and one contractor accountable for the result.
What TAV Owns
Project plan, permit, schedule, sub coordination (when applicable), subgrade and joint detail, finish standard, and a guarantee that the concrete work integrates with framing, drainage, and any interior finish on the same project. One number, one contract.
What Concrete Work Covers
Driveways and walkways, patios, garage and shed slabs, equipment pads, and footings for additions and outbuildings. The hard part is almost always the subgrade and the control-joint layout — both of which we plan for first.
- Driveways & walkways — full replacement or new pours with proper subgrade prep, control joints at engineered spacing, and a broom or troweled finish to match.
- Patios & slabs — exterior living surfaces, garage and shed slabs, equipment pads with vapor barrier and rebar where the use case warrants.
- Footings for additions — sized to load and frost depth, sequenced with framing and the rest of the renovation under one project schedule.
- Subgrade & joint detail — compaction checked first, control joints placed before the pour, expansion joints at all structures.
Driveway and slab failures almost always trace back to the subgrade, not the concrete. Soft spots that weren't compacted, a missing base layer, or water that runs under the slab will telegraph through as random cracks no matter how good the mix is. We pull the subgrade detail before we pour anything — and most of our budget for a new pour is below grade, not above it.
All concrete cracks. The job is to put the cracks where you planned them. Control joints cut at the right depth, the right spacing for the slab thickness, and the right time relative to the cure — that's what keeps the cracks at the joints instead of marching across the field. Skipping any of those steps moves the cracks somewhere ugly.

Concrete Work & Project Lead — Common Questions
How TAV handles concrete scope on full renovations.
1Does TAV self-perform concrete?
TAV is actively expanding its masonry capability and currently leads concrete scope through trusted licensed crews. Some scope we self-perform; some we sub. Either way, you get one contractor accountable for the whole project.
2What kinds of concrete does TAV manage?
Driveways, walkways, patios, garage and shed slabs, equipment pads, footings for additions, and integration of concrete scope into renovation projects that also touch framing, drainage, or interior finish.
3Why does new concrete crack?
All concrete cracks. The question is whether the cracks are controlled (at planned joints) or random (across the field). Good control-joint placement, proper subgrade compaction, and the right mix and cure schedule keep cracks at the joints. Skipping any of those moves the cracks somewhere ugly.
4Why use TAV instead of a dedicated concrete contractor?
For driveway-only or slab-only jobs, a dedicated concrete contractor is often the right call. Our value shows up when concrete is one phase of a larger project that also touches framing, masonry, or interior finish — one project lead beats four uncoordinated bids and four different schedules.
5What about replacing an old driveway or slab?
Demolition, hauling, subgrade preparation, vapor barrier or rebar where appropriate, control-joint layout, pour, and cure. We pull the subgrade detail first — most driveway failures trace back to a soft spot under the slab, not the concrete itself.
