Brick Mailboxes & Stone Columns in Oxford, MS
Brick mailboxes, stone-faced entry columns, driveway pillars — built or repaired with matched material, proper footing, and clean joint work. Some scope we self-perform; some we coordinate through trusted licensed crews. Either way, one contractor owns the result.
Mailboxes & Columns as Part of the Whole Project
TAV Construction is an interior finishing specialist by trade — and lately we've been actively expanding into masonry as well. Mailboxes and entry columns are common standalone jobs; they also show up alongside larger renovations where the driveway, exterior, or landscape is already being worked. Either way, you get one project lead, one schedule, and one contractor accountable for the result.
What TAV Owns
Project plan, permit (where required), footing detail, material match against the existing house, fixture and address-plaque integration, and a guarantee that the column work integrates with any concrete, driveway, or landscape scope on the same project. One number, one contract.
What Mailbox & Column Work Covers
Brick mailboxes (single or paired), stone-faced driveway entry columns, masonry pillars for fences and gates, address-plaque and light-fixture integration, and rebuild after vehicle damage. The hard part is almost always the footing and the material match — both of which we plan for first.
- New brick mailboxes — single or paired, with poured footing, color-matched brick, and integrated address plaque or lighting.
- Stone-faced entry columns — driveway and gate columns clad in natural or manufactured stone, with samples walked on-site before commitment.
- Vehicle-damage rebuilds — footing assessed first, then rebuild from the level of damage with matched material and clean joint work.
- Address & lighting integration — plaques, numbers, and low-voltage fixtures planned in from the start, not strapped on at the end.
A brick mailbox or stone column is small enough that it gets treated as a quick job — and that's where most of them fail. Skip the footing, and a hard winter or one nudge from a delivery truck pulls the column out of plumb. We pour a footing on every column we build, sized to the column height and the soil. It costs a little more on day one and saves the rebuild a few years out.
Material match is the second piece. Brick is usually findable; mortar color and joint profile are the harder match. We pull samples, test the mortar mix in a hidden spot, and only commit to the visible column when the match reads continuous with the rest of the house.

Mailboxes & Columns — Common Questions
How TAV handles mailbox and column scope.
1Does TAV self-perform mailbox and column work?
TAV is actively expanding its masonry capability and currently leads mailbox and column work through trusted licensed masonry crews. Some scope we self-perform; some we sub. Either way, you get one contractor accountable for the whole project.
2What kinds of columns does TAV build?
Brick mailboxes (single or paired), stone-faced entry columns at driveways, masonry pillars for fences and gates, address-plaque and light-fixture integration, and column repair after vehicle damage.
3How long does a brick mailbox take to build?
A single brick mailbox with a poured footing typically takes 2-3 days on-site, plus cure time. Stone-faced columns at a driveway entry take longer because of the material match and the foundation work. We give you a firm schedule before we start.
4What about column repair after a vehicle hit it?
Common. We assess the foundation first — most vehicle-damaged columns have footing damage that's not visible. If the footing is intact, we rebuild the column and match the original brick or stone. If the footing is cracked, we rebuild from below grade up.
5Can you match my existing brick or stone?
Usually yes. Brick matching is easier than mortar matching — we walk samples against the existing house brick or driveway columns and only commit when the match reads right. For stone, we pull samples on-site before any work begins.
